Dr. Ajay Vir Singh holds a Ph.D. degree from Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University, Agra, Uttar
Pradesh, India. He joined ICMR- National JALMA Institute for Leprosy and Other
Mycobacterial Diseases as Scientist ‘C’ in the Department of Microbiology and Molecular
Biology in 2013. Dr. Singh has keen interest in advance development of newer diagnostics and
control strategies for mycobacterial diseases, especially tuberculosis, leprosy and
paratuberculosis (Johne’s disease). He has published more than 110 research papers in peer
reviewed scientific journals. He has also contributed (co-authored) 5 books and a laboratory
manual on paratuberculosis. Due to his significant research contributions, Dr. Singh has been honored with numerous awards
including ISGBRD-Young Scientist Award (2021), ISCB-Young Scientist Award (2020) and Millennium India Education
Foundation- Young Research Award (2016). His current research is mainly aimed to develop indigenous diagnostics for
improving the early diagnosis of leprosy and drug resistant tuberculosis in India.

Dr. Vivek Kumar Gupta (M.Sc. Microbiology; Ph.D. Biotechnology) is currently working as Scientist-E at Department of Biochemistry, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)-National JALMA Institute for Leprosy and Other mycobacterial diseases, Agra. He has around more than 15 years of experience in working with Mycobacterium tuberculosis on drug discovery aspects. His area of research is Infectious Diseases -Tuberculosis and Leprosy - Anti-TB Drug discovery& Development, Adjunct anti-TB Therapy, Drug resistance. He has vast experience in various laboratory as well as animal experimentations techniques. He has expertise in conducting in vitro anti-TB screening, target-based assays, macrophage-based assay for testing the anti-TB efficacy of anti-TB drugs. Mycobacterial dormancy is also one of his research interests. He has also expertise in animal model of tuberculosis for pre-clinical study. He has also experience for running various research projects related to tuberculosis funded by various National agencies. Animal Model of tuberculosis, immunology and drug delivery system.
Dr. Amit Kumar Singh is a veterinary scientist with a Ph.D. in Life Sciences from the CSIR-Central Drug Research Institute, Lucknow. He began his career as an Assistant Toxicologist at GADVASU, Ludhiana, and subsequently pursued a post-doctoral research fellowship at Jeju National University, South Korea. Dr. Singh joined ICMR as in the position of Scientist-C and his expertise lies in pre-clinical studies using animal models for tuberculosis and leprosy. His research focuses on developing and evaluating innovative therapeutic strategies for tuberculosis treatment. Dr. Singh has several ongoing projects as Principal investigator and has published more than 55 research papers including four book chapters. His laboratory also provides training to young researchers passionate about tuberculosis research, fostering the next generation of scientists. Dr. Madhan Kumar M did his Ph.D. from ICMR-NIRT and then was a post-doctoral Research Associate in Genetic Engineering Research Unit in Madurai Kamaraj University (Madurai, Tamilnadu). He then joined ICMR-NIE as Project Scientist – C in HIV Sentinel Surveillance project of National AIDS Control Organization (NACO). After joining ICMR-NJIL&OMD as a Scientist till now he has received extramural projects from DRDE (Gwalior), DBT and ICMR as an independent researcher. He has 13 publications and has published a book and a book chapter. He has mentored a Ph.D., student and 12 M.Sc., students for their dissertation work. He is also a lifetime member of the Indian Immunology Society.

Dr. Haribhan Singh holds the position of Scientist D and is primarily involved in Epidemiological Activities, which encompasses Interventional Studies on Tuberculosis and Leprosy to a large extent, usually in active collaboration with the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme and the National Leprosy Eradication Programme. He has been a Scientist in the Department of Epidemiology since its establishment. He was also involved in separate operational research projects. Under his In-charge-ship, the National JALMA Institute for Leprosy and Other Mycobacterial Diseases secured the highly prestigious NABL accreditation. He co-ordinated the multicentric studies which involved meticulous planning and management. He is spending a significant amount of time planning and writing research proposals; budgeting; planning their execution; implementation of the protocols and supervision and monitoring of the projects. Social & behavioural and health systems research are a part of his epidemiological studies.

Dr Bhawna Sharma completed her PhD from Department of Immunology- National JALMA Institute for Leprosy and Other Mycobacterial Diseases affiliated with Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University, Agra. She has gained experience of more than 11 years of research and published 20 research articles in national and international peer-reviewed journals. She has been awarded with DBT BioCare award for women scientist in 2017. Her research interest revolves around immunological aspects of Host-pathogen interaction during of Tuberculosis and Leprosy, understanding the role of various T cell subsets as diagnostic targets and Tuberculosis and Leprosy. Her research emphasizes on mechanism of T cell activation during TB and Leprosy.

Dr. Harish Kumar Sagar hold the position of Scientist D (Medical) in the Clinical Division. He is a pathologist by profession holding a post graduate degree in pathology. His research area of interest is clinical leprosy and associated pathology. His research endeavours have resulted in 12 international and national publications. In addition, he had made significant contributions to surgical practice within the institute. Notably, he spearheaded an ICMR Task Force multicentric surgical trial investigating the impact of early active mobilization after tendon transfer procedures for claw hand. He has contributed and actively participated in conferences, webinars, workshops, and training sessions, more than 40 in the last five years. He is a member of the Indian Association of Leprologists (IAL).
